Russel M. Nelson, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, explains in his article “ Drawing the Power of Jesus Christ into Our Lives” how to draw closer to the power Jesus Christ gives us. Even in a hectic world, how can we make sure we see the power of Jesus Christ in our lives? President Nelson states “There is nothing easy or automatic about becoming such powerful disciples” (3). President Nelson acknowledges how this can seem hard “with the maze of personal problems and social issues on our own”(1). President Nelson concludes, though, that “[You] will be led by the Holy Ghost to know exactly what you should do” (5). We need to show the Savior we have our full faith. It poses the question of how can we better grow our faith and show the Savior we have faith?

Because President Nelson was called to be a prophet by God, he expresses messages we need to understand. Sometimes our trials may seem hard but we must remember we always can rely on Jesus Christ to know exactly how we feel. The better we can understand this the more we can acknowledge his guidance and blessings in our lives. Another question President Nelson’s article raises is how can we better remind ourselves that “Heavenly Father never intended we would deal with the maze of personal problems and social issues on our own”(1). As a new member of the church, I find that I often need to remind myself that I’m never truly alone. For me, I just need to constantly remind myself that I need to “look up”. Growing up, my family always strongly felt that we were just on our own. This was really hard to always try to carry every weight you’ve ever felt all on your own shoulders. Now having the church I can see a huge difference in my life. I strongly believe the best way to see the power in something is to picture your life without it. If I take the time to remember I’m never alone, I know I will be comforted by the spirit more often. I also know the more I try to draw closer to the spirit, Heavenly Father will strengthen me and guide me in my efforts.
